Procedures

Endocrine surgery is tailored to each patient’s diagnosis and needs. Rajiv uses advanced techniques and intraoperative monitoring to ensure safe, precise outcomes.

Thyroidectomy

Thyroidectomy surgery is the removal of all or part of the thyroid gland. It is commonly performed for thyroid cancer, large or suspicious nodules, or an overactive thyroid that has not responded to other treatments.

This may involve:

  • Total thyroidectomy (whole gland removal)
  • Hemi-thyroidectomy (one lobe removed)
  • Nerve monitoring to protect the vocal cords
  • Preserving parathyroid glands to reduce complications

Parathyroidectomy

Parathyroidectomy is an operation to remove one or more overactive parathyroid glands. It is most often used to treat high calcium levels that may cause symptoms such as kidney stones, bone thinning or fatigue.

This may involve:

  • Minimally invasive (focused) surgery guided by scans
  • Bilateral neck exploration if more glands are affected
  • Intraoperative hormone monitoring for precision

Neck Exploration

Neck exploration is a more detailed operation used for complex or uncertain endocrine conditions. It allows thorough assessment and treatment when the cause of thyroid or parathyroid disease is less clear.

This may involve:

  • Locating and treating ectopic (misplaced) glands
  • Careful dissection to protect nerves and vital structures
  • Use of modern imaging and monitoring techniques
